Did you know that March 23rd is National Puppy Day? It’s also Cuddly Kitten Day, which officially makes it the cutest day of the year. However, we’ll focus on puppies for this article. This is a wonderful time to pamper your canine buddy, and get some extra tail wags. A local Oconomowoc, WI vet offers some tips for celebrating this special day below.
Dogs are always adorable when they realize they’re about to get a new toy. Classic doggy playthings, like tennis balls and rope toys, are fine, but you can also try something new. Get your furry best bud a mechanical ball launcher, or an automatic laser pointer. Puzzle toys are also a great choice. Just stick to things that are the right size for your pooch. Fido could hurt himself with toys that are too big or too small!
It’s probably safe to say that food is at the top of the list when it comes to Fido’s favorite things. Brighten up your canine friend’s day by giving him something yummy. (We really can’t officially condone feeding your dog bacon, steak, or cheeseburgers every day, but this is a special occasion.) You can also make your pup’s snacks. Just be sure to stick with ingredients that are safe for Fido.
March can be touch-and-go, as far as weather. However, if it’s warm enough, take your canine pal for a long walk. Both you and your pet may enjoy getting outdoors after another long winter!
You may already have dozens of photos of your furry friend, but that’s no reason not to take more. Snap a few cute shots of Fido being himself. Edit your favorites, and frame them or share them on social media.
Dogs spend about half of their time sleeping. Is Fido’s bed is looking a bit flat? Why not get him a comfy new one? If you want to save money, look online for DIY options.
Dogs are extremely loyal, and really want nothing more than to spend time with their favorite humans. Spend some quality time with Fido, and indulge him with lots of ear scritches and belly rubs. Time spent with your furry best friend is never wasted!
