Ways Cats Demand Respect

There’s an ex tremely important holiday coming up, at least as far as your feline buddy is concerned. Respect Your Cat Day is March 28th! Kitties are very popular pets, in large part because they are both cute and amusing. However, no matter how small and innocent these little furballs look, they definitely have a way of bossing their humans around. A  ttention

Cats can be very particular about just how and when they want attention. Fluffy may meow to demand you pick her up, only to wiggle out of your arms two minutes later, when she’s had her fill of snuggles. You may notice that it’s almost impossible to hug or pet a cat that isn’t in the mood. Kitties only let us cuddle them when they want to be cuddled!

Vocalization

Did you know that cats may have started meowing specifically to boss us around? Fluffy has a whole slew of vocalizations, which range from affectionate little chirrups to flat out yelling. You can expect to get an earful if you do something your furry pal doesn’t approve of!

Presents

Cats are very skilled hunters. While not everyone appreciates finding dead mice on their porches, it is worth noting that Fluffy’s hunting prowess was what sparked our long and loving relationship with kitties. In older times, we prized our feline pals for helping keep mice and other rodents out of our homes and food stores. It probably didn’t take cats very long to realize that a successful hunt was followed by food, praise, and ear scritches. No wonder they look so proud of themselves when presenting us with ‘gifts.’

Meal Time

Our feline overlords take their dinner schedules very, very seriously. Fluffy will definitely let you know if you are late with her first, second, or third breakfast! She may meow, rub against your legs, run out in front of you, or even paw at you to demand her dinner right meow.

Statues

We can’t really discuss ways cats demand respect without at least mentioning the Sphinx. Fluffy somehow managed to convince the ancient Egyptians to treat her as a divine being. Talk about respect!
